Nobody provokes me with impunity

To przybliżony tekst mojego koszmarnego speecha na równie koszmarny temat. Enjoy it :).

Hello! My name is Joanna and I’m here today because I want to talk with you about provocation. The topic of my presentation is: “Nobody provokes me with impunity”.

Firstly I want to explain what the word ‘provocation’ exactly means. I would like to look at the Bible and remind the Christian values. After that I want to speak about our childhood. Then I present you how people react when they are provoked. Next I would like to talk about the problem of revenge.

What is provocation? You can say that it is a deceitful activity whose aim is persuading somebody to do something, usually bad for this person. We know different types of provocation. You can be provoked for example in word or by sb’s behaviour.

We can read about provocation in many books but in my opinion the most important one is the Bible. “Whoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.” In these quotation Jesus teaches us that surrendering provocation is incompatible with Christian values.

But… let’s see. For example our childhood. Haven’t you ever fought between the lessons for example with a boy or a girl from your class? Or maybe somebody created an awful nickname for you and you did the same? Since the first years of our life provocation has been a part of it. When we are children very often we can’t restrain ourselves from saying something stupid or hitting somebody. When we are adult we are more reasonable. If we want tell something stupid we will think over it. Of course people are different. Some of them are very impulsive. You know – sometimes you say something and after a moment you repent of it. You want to put the time back but it’s impossible! Also there are very calm people. It’s very difficult to provoke them.
As I mentioned, we often regret our behavior. It’s natural – we are not perfect. But sometimes when we were provocated we want to take revenge. I suppose I needn’t explain how bad revenge is – it could be for example a reason of arguments.

Finally I’d like to review the main parts of my presentation. Firstly I explained the meaning of the word ‘provocation’. Secondly I told about provocation in the Bible. Thirdly I talked about our childhood and adult life. After that I showed you different people’s reaction. Then I warned against the danger of revenge.

Provocation is an element of our life. But if we are reasonable enough it shouldn’t become dangerous. Remember – sometimes count up to three before you say something.
