you need a whammy, a wah and a flanger
i've done both guitar parts. They are one on top of eachother.

from what i know, what I've seen and the capabilities of my
guitar, I'm pretty sure this is how Tom plays the solo:
use the toggle switch and the wah and set the whammy to 
harmonize up a fourth. These are all hammer-ons w/ the left
hand.
