Advantages and disadvantages of giving pocket money
It widely known that every child likes to receive pocket money, but not all of them do. Parents have diffrent views on that case, some of them give pocket money annually every month or week and others give money when their toddlers want something they find appropriate. Usually the kids do not have anything to say.
The first advantage of giving pocket money is the satisfaction of the children. Even at young age they like to be as independent as they can, so if they can get money and spend it in whatever way they want will surely make them happier. Parents can controle the amount given depending on the behaviour of the children and even withhold it when the bearing gets "unbearable". When the parents want to monitor on what the money is expent they can ask for bills, but that happens only when they do not have sufficent trust in their kids. Recieving pocket money will also make them feel trusted by their parents.
The disadvantages are nothing to neglect. The first one is that to the best of the parents ability it is impossible to know exactly what the children spend the money on. There is always a peril of finding the kids having spent their pocket money on cigaretts or alcohole. The other drawback of giving pocket money is not boosting the kids to do anything to earn their cash. Giving them a respectful and not too copmplicated occupation will inure them to work and so the risk of them being destitute is lowered. They cannot take everything for granted.
So as you see there many reasons for being an adherent of one of those ideas. The disputes can continue ad infinatum but making a final decision is inevitable. As you see even pocket money can be a serious problem with kids.
